Beginner Yoga - Online Course

Are you new to yoga and/or wanting to brush up on the basics?

Join studio owner and teacher, Shayne Pretorius in this online course as she takes you through:

  • A brief introduction to yoga: become familiar with some basic yoga concepts/terminology. For example, where does the word "Yoga" come from, what is your "drishti", what does "namaste" mean?

  • How to comfortably sit, and how to breathe.

  • Common yoga poses used in a general yoga class - we provide you with alignment cues and how to modify the poses using yoga props.

  • What are Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) and how do we do them?

  • What is meditation and how can we build our own meditation practice?

  • Pranayama - Breathing exercises (Ujjayi breath, Sama Vritti, Nadi Shodhana)

  • What are the different yoga class styles and which one is for me?

The class recordings are available for the lifetime of our studio so you're able to learn at your own pace. You can revisit the recordings whenever and wherever you like.

Our aim is to provide you with a well-rounded and balanced course. We want to equip you with the right tools to confidently walk into, and enjoy a general yoga class.
